Glad @GTSwimDive had the chance to support @GTVolleyball last night! Go jackets! pic.twitter.com/FIV3lqg65z

If swimming your heart out at dual meets doesn’t get people’s attention, being mostly naked at other sporting events certainly will.

I wish you the best for your new head coach position @coachkipp. Thank you for your contribution to USC and for bringing me over here!
— Dimitri Colupaev (@DimitriColupaev) August 27, 2015
Jeremy Kipp was recently named the head coach of the Boise State women’s swimming and diving team, and USC alumnus Dimitri Colupaev put in some words of thanks to the coach who helped recruit him to the Trojans back in 2011.

Summer is winding down, but that means that the NCAA season is just getting started. The Northwestern Wildcats are just over a week away from their first practice, as they prepare for a conference season with some of the toughest teams in the NCAA.

Ross Murdoch may be known for his breaststroke prowess, especially after winning bronze in the 100m breast at the 2015 World Champs, but the Scottish swimmer decided to go big in his first-ever open water race at a Great Swim Series event in the UK.

We can’t get enough of these photos from SwimMac’s Team Elite. And these are just pictures from PRACTICE! Practice can be cool. Probably.

Stay golden, Canada. So proud of the youngins killing it at junior worlds right now🔥 the future is so bright @SwimmingCanada 🍁
— Brittany MacLean (@b_maclean) August 27, 2015
Brittany’s right– the future is certainly looking bright for Canadian swimming. Taylor Ruck dominated the 100 and 200 free on the women’s side (while Penny Oleksiak followed up for silver in that 100), and the two teamed up with Markus Thornmeyer and Javier Acevedo in the mixed 4×100 free relay to finish almost a full second ahead of 2nd place Australia (who, by the way, have the very best female sprinters as well as some of the very best male sprinters at the senior level). Canada finished with 12 medals overall, fourth-most of any nation, and 5 medals ahead of next-best GBR.

400 IM World JR Champion!@seanyboy500 reppin' the 🇺🇸. His pre-race routine: shaking hands w/officials. #gratitude pic.twitter.com/IwJK3pqCEo

Sean Grieshop held his taper quite well at the World Jr Champs, and gunned it on the final 50 to take the 400 IM gold medal. His time of 4:15.67 puts him as the 6th best American 18& under performer ever in this event, behind only Jay Litherland, Gunnar Bentz, Chase Kalisz (three Dawgs!), Tom Dolan and Michael Phelps.

Virginia Tech transfer Joe Bonk is learning how they do things at NC State. Welcome back to training! Summer is over! Short course can hurt, too!

Not the way your coach might be thinking, but it’s certainly the way most swimmers are thinking.

That’s right, Katie Ledecky is considering adding the 400 IM to her Olympic Trials lineup. The Stanford Cardinal had three female breaststrokers break 1:00 last year (and one nearly break 58)… So maybe Maya can rest assured that Katie’s decision to defer a year might also stall any and all possible breakthroughs in breaststroke. At least for the time being.
Northwestern should really watch out using those blocks. They seem dangerously far away from the water.
at first i thought it was a mistake how they made it and that the tweet would be about that lol
but seriously whats the matter with that and theyre also at the side of the pool and the first one has this kinda hnalde thing which the others dont have ?
They move the bulkhead in front of the blocks for competition. Right now they run lanes width-wise, and will re-arrange it for SCY meets.
Katie should swim an open water 5 or 10k. She would kill that race.
she’d break the mens world record
And Maya, don’t be afraid for Rio. But after Rio, yes, in my opinion all 400 IM swimmers of the world can start to worry a lot.
I’ve just seen Kirsty Coventry’s photo and seriously, before I read below it was Coventry, I really thought it was a snake in the pool. 🙂
Seeing Murdoch go open water makes me want to see Ledecky crush a 5k (and of course that 400IM, because why can’t she)
