SwimMAC’s Becca Postoll Verbally Commits to Michigan Wolverines

Becca Postoll, a part of SwimMAC Carolina’s incredible National Age Group Record run in the last few years, has verbally committed to the Michigan Wolverines.

Postoll is a recent transplant to North Carolina, after spending the first half of her high school career with the Stingrays in Marietta, Georgia.

While in Georgia, she was a dominant force, winning four state championships. That includes the 200 free (1:47.37) and 500 free (4:48.49) individually as a sophomore, and the 400 free relays as both a freshman and a sophomore (splitting 49.9 and 49.3, respectively). Following that sophomore season at Kennesaw Mountain High School, Postoll was named the Georgia High School Swim Coaches Association 6A Swimmer of the Year.

After moving to North Carolina, she was 2nd at the 1A/2A State Championship meet in the 200 free and 500 free while racing for powerhouse Charlotte Catholic.

Postoll’s best times in yards:

  • 50 free – 23.34
  • 100 free – 50.17
  • 200 free – 1:47.37
  • 500 free – 4:48.49
  • 1000 free – 9:54.45
  • 100 back – 56.44
  • 200 back – 1:59.36
  • 200 IM – 2:03.92

Postoll was a part of 4 National Age Group Record setting relays at SwimMAC Carolina, and earned her 2012 Olympic Trials cuts as a 15-year old in the 100 and 200 freestyles. Since the 2012 Olympic Trials, her times in the backstroke races have seen the biggest improvements in long course, improving to 1:04.4/2:18.6.

In joining with Catie DeLoof, who also verbally committed to Michigan this week, Postoll should form half of the Michigan 200 and 400 free relays over the long term. Michigan’s four best 100 freestylsers last year were all freshmen and sophomores, but only one of them (Zoe Mattingly) was under 49.7 on a flat-start. What’s more, nobody on Michigan’s roster was faster than 1:48.5 in the 200 free last year, which Postoll already has beaten by more than a second.
