Chinese swimmer Sun Yang made huge waves early at the 2016 Arena Pro Swim Series meet at Santa Clara, winning the 200 free in a world-leading time. But since a 3:43 in prelims of the 400 free on Saturday (which ranks him 2nd in the world), Sun has disappeared from the results in California. That includes pulling out of the 400 free final on Saturday evening and now dropping the 1500 free altogether, which ends his meet.

Sun has not been made available for comment this weekend at Santa Clara, and no reason has been given for his withdrawal from the meet. Sun is reported to have been training in the San Francisco Bay Area in the leadup to this meet.
His year has been plagued by injury, missing both the Australian-hosted Super Series and the Chinese Olympic Trials, the two biggest meets on the pre-Olympic calendar for China, after a foot injury suffered in training in January.
Sun’s was the only major scratch from Sunday’s prelims, aside from those of swimmers who have already been entirely absent from the meet to this point.
This from the poster who thought Sun could evade drug testing because he scratched . Then did not know a tap on the shoulder by a authorised chaperone was something he could avoid in the stands of Santa Clara .
You are wrong -there are many of those pardons/sentence commutes with violence .Some were suppliers with assault weapons . It takes time to go thru 330 & i’ve only gotten through about 40 so far. Not that I care but as I have demonstrated both in numbers & types of offences -it is a complete shift in US policy.

The testing at the meet is randomized. To my knowledge they are not targeting specific individuals. For finals, they randomly assign a specific placing (i.e. 1st – 9th) and that individual will then be approached immediately after the race by a designated chaperone.
Also, the 3:43 in prelims from Sun Yang? Either he his in the best shape of his life, or he is doping.
And I did not expect a 3:41 from anyone other than Sun Yang…

Ok, I’ll go there. In February he had a broken foot. I’ve broken bones in my hand and foot and close to immediately there is significant swelling. Pictures of him with a broken foot didn’t spring out as that look. He was also rail thin up to then and in those pictures. His body type has changed SIGNIFICANTLY since February. In 4 months he has put on a lot of muscle including in the thighs and calves. It is IMPOSSIBLE to put on that muscle mass from swimming. How does one do the weight training to accomplish that with a broken foot that needed 5-8 weeks in a boot to heal? HOW???

Are you certain of this? If it is true and if he bailed, that would be sanctionable. If a water polo player missed a test by a few hours and got 4 years, this should be the same IF what you wrote is accurate.
I was in the stands and saw one of the volunteer chaperones approach him after the final. The chaperone is responsible for following him and escorting him to the usada officials for testing. Doubt that he would bail

He looks very suspicious to say the least – i dont like that attitude at all .
With the likes of Paltrinieri swimming really well in 1500m at the moment (as he did at London Euros) I can understand why Sun Yang wouldn’t want to put his 1500m time out there, particularly if he knows he is in a strong position. Better to keep it a mystery rather than give the opposition a standard to reach for. You don’t see motor racing teams bragging about the lap times they’ve done in testing if they are smart.
