Stingrays Breaststroker Lauren O’Malley Headed to Naval Academy

Marietta, Georgia’s Lauren O’Malley has given a verbal commitment to the United States Naval Academy’s class of 2019. The future Midshipman is primarily a breaststroke/sprint freestyler who trains with Stingrays Swimming in Atlanta.

“I chose Navy because it seemed like the perfect fit for me. The school and experience as a whole has so much to offer on top of getting the chance to serve my country. I fell in love with the campus, student body, and team when I was there, and now I am so excited to be a Midshipman! Go Navy! Beat Army!”

O’Malley attends Lassiter High School in Marietta. At the 2014 GHSA 6A State Swimming & Diving Meet she swam the 50 free and 100 breast, led off Lassiter’s 200 free relay, and anchored the 400 free relay. Her best short course yards times over the last two seasons include:

100y breast: 1:05.37
200y breast: 2:23.87
50y free: 23.96
100y free: 52.50
200y IM: 2:08.85

O’Malley will be part of a Midshipmen class that also includes fellow commits Ally Warnimont and Lila Best. She’s also the younger sister of current Georgia senior swimmer Shannon O’Malley.
