Staci Schrecongost Joins Spider’s Staff

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond swimming head coach Matt Barany announced the addition of Staci Schrecongost to his staff on Tuesday morning.

“We’re excited to add Staci’s energy to the program,” Barany said. “Sean and I like her curiosity, passion for the sport, and fun-loving nature. We think the current and future Spiders will benefit from her contributions.”

Schrecongost joins the Spiders from Edinboro University where she was a standout swimmer earning All-American honors.

“I am thrilled to have this opportunity to become a Richmond Spider, and be a part of the swim program,” Schrecongost said. “Matt and Sean have given me a warm welcome! The team definitely has a lot of good energy and I’m eager to contribute to it. This is a great opportunity for a young coach like me to reflect on the things I have learned and to build knowledge from Mat and Sean.”

She holds Edinboro school records in the 100, 200, and 500 free, and both the 400 and 800 free relays. During her senior year, Schrecongost qualified for her first trip to the NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving National Championships. She finished seventh in the 200 free to earn All-American honors and All-American Honorable Mention in the 500 free.

Schrecongost graduated from Edinboro Univeristy in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science with a focus in health promotion. She is currently working towards her Master’s degree in communications.

The Spiders, who have won 14 of the last 15 Atlantic 10 Championships, are back in action this weekend at the Patriot Invitational in Fairfax.
