Swim Meet Results
The St. Bonaventure women’s swimming and diving team fell at Cleveland State on Friday at Busbey Natatorium. The Bonnies steadily improved as the day went on but came up short, 168-132.
The Brown and White received top place finishes from multiple swimmers on Friday, including three top finishes from Junior Lauren Caldwell. Caldwell started the day for the Bonnies with a second place finish in the 1000 yard freestyle, touching in with a time of 10:35.94, three seconds behind Cleveland State’s Jodi Turk. She would later take a third place finish in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:08.90, just behind teammates Elizabeth Malone and Tanja Kirmse. Caldwell would end the day with a first place finish in the 200 yard Individual Medley, registering a time of 2:10.53.
Senior Jeanette Dietrich was strong on the day, starting out with a second place finish in the 200 yard freestyle, coming in with a time of 1:56.58. Later in the afternoon, Dietrich recorded another second place finish, this time in the 50 yard freestyle, recording a time of 24.79 and just short of Cleveland State’s Alex Johansson. She would conclude the day with her third second place finish in the 100 yard freestyle, registering a time of 53.61.
Freshman Tanja Kirmse continues an impressive freshman year with three top finishes on the day. The day began for her in the 200 yard butterfly where she finished first with a time of 2:04.47. Kirmse would grab another first place finish, this time in the 500 yard freestyle, touching in with a time of 5:12.03, two seconds in head of Cleveland State’s Jodi Turk. She would finish the day with her third first place finish in the 100 yard butterfly, finishing with a time of 57.19.
Sophomore Elizabeth Malone was the fourth SBU swimmer to register three top place finishes on the day, her first coming in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:08.76, just behind teammate Kirmse. Malone would place third in the 100 yard butterfly, recording a time of 58.75 and two events later she would grab a second place finish in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:12.72.
Sophomore Adelyn Graf and Senior McKenzie Courtney would also place for the Bonnies with four top finishes between the two. Graf would grab a second place finish early for the Brown and White in the 100 yard backstroke, registering a time of 1:00.47. Graf would conclude the day with a second place finish in the 200 yard backstroke, recording a time of2:10.12, followed by teammate Alexa Scanlan. Senior Courtney started the day in the 100 yard breaststroke registering a time of 1:08.18, which earned her a second place finish. Later in the day, Courtney would earn a first place finish in the 200 yard breaststroke, touching in with a time of 2:26.69.
The St. Bonaventure relay teams saw success again, earning three top finishes. Their first came in the 400 yard medley relay with the team of Graf, Malone, Kirmse, and Courtney coming in with a time of 3:59.90, enough for a second place finish. They would conclude the day with a second and third place finish in the 400 yard freestyle relay. The team of Dietrich, Woods, Anderson, and Bull touched in at 3:41.32, earning them a second place finish while the team of Jordan, Quinn, McCann, and Caldwell touched in at 3:44.06, earning them a third place finish.
Meghan Bartlett would earn the lone diving finish for the Bonnies, placing third in the 1 meter dive with a score of 214.20.
The Bonnies will return to the Reilly Center next Saturday (November 16) to face Little Three Rival Canisius.
