ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure University men’s swimming and diving head coach Sean McNamee has announced the signing of two student-athletes – Jason Green and Marcus Swartfager — to National Letters of Intent to join the Bonnies for the fall of 2017 season.
Green comes to St. Bonaventure from Asheville, N.C. During his time at Baylor High School, he has swam in IM, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle events. He earned seventh place in the 200-IM in high school state competition. An intended computer science major, Green comes from an extensive pedigree of collegiate swimmers. His father, James, swam at the University of Maryland, and his mother, Janet, swam at Emory University.
“Jason comes to us from Baylor High School and Baylor Swim Club under the guidance of Coach Dan Flack,” said McNamee. “They have produced numerous highly performing athletes, so we are confident that Jason will arrive to SBU ready to hit the ground running with little need for adjustment to the rigors.”
Swartfager joins the Bonnies from Grove City, Pa. For Grove City Area High School, he swam freestyle and butterfly events, and he holds school records in the 100-freestyle, 400-freestyle and the 200-freestyle relay.
“Marcus comes into the Atlantic 10 with times that just miss scoring at our A-10 Championships after his junior year of high school,” said McNamee. “His 6-3 frame and his drive to have a banner senior year should open some eyes, and I firmly believe he will be an immediate factor in the conference.”
The Brown and White will continue its 2016-17 season in the Akron Zippy Invite on Dec. 2-4.
