New head coach Neal Studd’s recruiting prowess has been on display this fall, as he has received verbal commitments from an impressive group of future Florida State Seminoles: Adrian Moya, Clay Riemenschneider, Felipe Ribeiro, Jackson Defore, Kristofer Rogic, Oszkar Lavotha, Patrick Butkovich, Paxton Rhodes, Ryan Telford. The latest to add his name to the hat is Jacksonville Beach, Florida sprinter Gavin Jones.

Jones is a senior at Duncan U. Fletcher High School. At the recent 2016 FHSAA 4A District 1 Championships, he won the 50 free (21.73) and the 100 free (46.97), and swam legs on Fletcher’s 200 medley and 200 free relays. At last year’s 4A State Meet, Jones was 4th in the 50 (20.82) and third in the 100 (45.38).
Jones competed in the 50y and 100y freestyle events at the 2015 Speedo Winter Junior Nationals East, placing 56th and 43rd, respectively. At Summer Junior Nationals this past August, he was 29th and 39th, respectively, in the 50m and 100m free. He also led off Bolles School Sharks’ 6th-place 400m free relay and anchored their 4th-place 400m medley relay.

- 50 fly – 23.88
