Springville’s Connor Anderson Staying In-State; Gives Verbal to BYU Cougars

Connor Anderson, who swims for Utah Valley Aquatics in Provo, has made a verbal commitment to the Brigham Young University Cougars for 2015-16.

Anderson is a national-level freestyler. Although he has a wide range, his sweet spot is in the mid-distance events. Anderson’s best times over the last two seasons are:

50y free: 21.91 50m free: 24.96
100y free: 47.10 100m free: 53.32
200y free: 1:40.72 200m free: 1:54.97
500y free: 4:31.66 400m free: 4:06.76
1000y free: 9:25.30 800m free: 8:36.31
1650y free: 16:19.40 1500m free: 16:48.84

Swimming for Springville High School at the 2014 Utah High School 4A State Championships, Anderson won the 500 free and was runner-up in the 200 free. He also anchored Springville’s 200 free relay with a 21.2, and the 400 free relay with a 46.2.

Anderson will be an asset to the Cougars in the expanded Mountain Pacific Sports Federation conference championships. With UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly men’s teams out of the Pac-12 and now joining their women’s teams in the MPSF, the Cougars will face much stiffer competition. Anderson and fellow commit Ryan Sorensen will be welcomed additions to the BYU roster.
