South Shore Classic Ocean Swim Event Crowns New Champions

Beautiful Hawaiian weather set the scene for the3rd annual Maui Jim South Shore Classic, an ocean swim event held this past Sunday afternoon in the clear blue waters off Waikiki. Over 200 entrants gathered at the popular beach spot ‘Walls’ to race the fun format unlike any other swim race in the world: Depending on age and gender, racers were given a ‘head start’ allowing for an exciting swim race that not only highlighted the classic battle of the sexes but matched youth against experience. The spectator friendly swim course drew large crowds on the beach as the course led swimmers through 2-4 swim loops, including a short beach run at the midway mark. Champions were crowned at the beachside post-race awards ceremony:

Elite Mixed 2 Mile Race GRACE MONAHAN

Keiki 1/2 Mile Race KAIMAKANA FLANAGAN

Wahine 1 Mile Race MIKI DAVID

Kane 1 Mile Race KEVIN FLANAGAN

Congratulations to all those that finished the race.  Check out race pictures and video at the following link. Many thanks to the following sponsors that helped this event happen: Maui Jim, Arena, Boca Hawaii, JACO, Zak Noyle Photography, Duke Kahanamoku Foundation, BioAstin, Liliha Bakery, and Aloha Salads.
