Night three finals of the 2017 Indianapolis Sectionals wrapped up this evening. Highlighting the session was 15 year old Regan Smith, who broke the 1:00 barrier for the first time in the 100 backstroke in a time of 59.74. Smith’s time makes her the 7th 15 year old to ever break 1:00.

In addition to Smith, Wyatt Davis of Carmel Swim Club took home gold in the 100 meter backstroke by .07 over Paul Le. The top two finishers clocked 56.11 and 56.18 respectively. Davis also took home silver in the 400 meter freestyle finishing behind William Bresette, who finished under the 4:00 barrier at 3:59.43.

Dual event champion from last night Vien Nguyen placed second in the 400 freestyle, finishing second to Carmel Swim Club’s Emma Nordin.

Both the men’s and women’s 100 breaststroke events brought new meet records. In the women’s event it was Emily Weiss who broke the previous mark of 1:08.97 set by Laura Lindsay in 2011. Weiss finished just barely under the previous record clocking a 1:08.91. In the men’s event Itay Goldfaden touched out University of South Carolina teammate Nils Wich-Glasen. Goldfaden broke the meet record by about a half a second finishing at 1:01.49. Wich-Glasen, who finished 8th at the NCAA championships a few weeks ago clocked a 1:01.99.

Lauren Edelman won the women’s 200 meter butterfly event by almost two second in a time of 2:15.55. Edelman placed 3rd in the 400 IM last night. Janko Radmanovic completed a sweep of the butterfly events winning the 200 meter race in 2:03.16.
