South Carolina state record sprinter Jessica Weitz verbally committed to swim for Tulane University.  Weitz will bring depth and versatility to the Green Wave squad in sprint back, breast and free events.  Having only swum club for 3 years, Weitz has developed quickly and expects to continue to improve under Coach Robinson and the Tulane staff.  She finished her high school swimming career recently, as independent school state champion and new record holder in both the 100 free and 100 back, as well as owner of two relay titles and overall team title for Porter Gaud School.  She now turns her attention to short course season with the LTP Racing Club in Charleston full-time, under Head Coach Jesup Szatkowski.

Weitz’s current best times:

  • 100 Free – 53.63
  • 100 Back – 58.56
  • 100 Breast – 1:07.27
  • 200 Breast – 2:29.13

“I chose Tulane because I could tell that the team acts like family and is exactly what I am looking for.  The coaches made me feel comfortable and at home.  I feel that my pursuit of achievement in swimming and academics will be very successful at Tulane with the support of the team and coaches behind me.”
