South American open water athletes selected for Pan Ams, led by four each from Argentina, Venezuela

The South American zone has selected its athletes for the 2015 Pan American Games open water swimming events, with Argentina and Venezuela qualifying 4 swimmers apiece, according to BestSwimming.

Pan Am rules allowed CONSANAT, the South American swimming federation, to select 7 men and 7 women to compete in Toronto this coming summer at Pan Ams.

The top 7 finishers at the qualifying meet were selected, including top finishers Allan do Carmo of Brazil and Kristel Kobrich of Chile, both Olympians for their respective nations.

The full list of qualifiers is below:

Men:

  1. Allan Do Carmo – Brazil
  2. Diogo Villarinho – Brazil
  3. Esteban Enderica – Ecuador
  4. Guillermo Bertola – Argentina
  5. Wilder Carreno – Venezuela
  6. Diego Vera – Venezuela
  7. Gabriel Villagoyz – Argentina

Women:

  1. Kristel Kobrich – Chile
  2. Cecilia Biagioli – Argentina
  3. Samantha Arevalo – Ecuador
  4. VAlentina Perez – Venezuela
  5. Liliana Hernandez – Venezuela
  6. Julia Arino – Argentina
  7. Carolina Bilich – Brazil

Three more zones get to select their own athletes. The Central American & Carribean swimming federation will select 14 athletes, while the United States and Canada will each get 4 swimmers into the Games.

Brazil team was not the “full”

Allan and Vilarinho will on may race with Samuel de Bona and Arapiraca to see who will go to Kazan and who will go to Pan.
On women side, Poliana and Ana Marcela will go to Kazan and decided not to try swimming the Pan Am games
