The American Athletic Conference announced its swimming and diving weekly honors for the week ending Oct. 8.
Matea Samardzic * Sr. * SMU
Samardzic placed first in three of her individual events and third in the 200 free relay at SMU’s dual meet against Tulane Friday. Her time in the 200 free (1:51.40) is 33rd in the NCAA and first in The American. She has produced a time of 4:17.54 in the 400 IM, qualifying her for the NCAA B cut. Samardzic carried anchor in the 200 free relay with a time of 25.56, while the squad’s 1:37.36 overall time ranks 3rd in the league.
Zach Hostoffer * Jr. * Cincinnati
Hostoffer posted a first place finish in one event, while finishing runner-up in three additional races Friday night against Indianapolis. With a time of 55:93, he rounds out the top 10 times in the NCAA in the 100 breast. His 200 breast time (2:08.55) is fourth among the top times in the conference. The 400 medley relay team is ranked 15th nationally and first in The American with a time of 3:23.61. The Bearcats 200 free relay team posted a top 25 finish and rank 23rd with its most current time of 1:25.45.
Claire Schuermann * So. * Cincinnati
Schuermann finished first in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events in a dual meet at Indianapolis Friday afternoon. She tallied a score of 267.60 in the 1 meter, a top-finish in the conference. Schuermann recorded 256.25 points in the 3-meter event, just 2.73 behind the best time in The American.
Mitch Godar * Sr. * Cincinnati
Godar earned a first and third place finish in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events Friday against Indianapolis. He recorded a conference-best score in the 1 meter (335.05), qualifying for NCAA zones. Godar’s score of 235.13 in the 3 meter event is the sixth top time in the conference.
