At the halfway mark of the men’s 200 breaststroke Andrew Willis had more than a second lead over Adam Peaty. It was Peaty who had the better second half making up a lot of ground on Willis, especially in the last 50 meters where he split a time of 32.98.

In the end Willis took the event in a time of 2:12.22 while Peaty posted a time of 2:12.86.

  • Willis – 30.14/1:03.90 (33.76)/1:38.47 (34.57)/2:12.22 (33.75)
  • Peaty – 30.60/1:05.05 (34.45)/1:39.88 (34.83)/2:12.86 (32.98)

Willis’ time ties the time Peaty put up at the Flanders Speedo Cup and ranks eighth in the world.

A point to make about Adam Peaty…

He swum 50 Breast 7 times today – 27.1 in heats and 27.3 in the last race of the meet, the 200m Medley Relay. In the 50m Breast skins, he swim 27s 5 times with just 3 minutes between each of the 5 swims. He swum his 2.12 in the same sessions. Unbelievable.
