Sierra Marlins Swim Team, a Folsom, California-based club team, named Tim McCormick its new head coach.
McCormick served as the team’s director of development for the last three years. According to the team, McCormick was “instrumental” in developing its senior program and helping the club to achieve USA Swimming Gold Medal status. Among the team’s former members are 2020 Olympians Haley Anderson, Bryce Mefford and Jake Mitchell (early in his career).
McCormick succeeds Rob Collins, who left to become an assistant coach at the University of Tennessee after four seasons as the Marlins’ head coach and CEO.
Prior to joining the Marlins, McCormick started the Foothill Aquasharks Swim Team and worked with the year-round program at Lifetime Northern California. He was also the aquatics director and head swim coach at Oak Ridge High School, where his teams won multiple CIF and state titles.
McCormick grew up swimming in the Bay Area for Concord Pleasant Hill Swim Team (now the Terrapins Swim Team) and competed collegiately for Bakersfield State in 1986-87. He wrapped up his college career at Chico State.

We’re allowed to claim 11yr olds who swam for one year now as a product of ‘our’ system?! Anything to pad a resume I guess

The Sierra Marlins are ranked as a gold medal club, I don’t think they need to pad their resume.

That’s the Marlin way. Merge with other programs with high level kids, blatantly recruit high level kids off of other teams (which Rob, Tim and Doug have done for years) then walk around like your you know what don’t stink
This is ridiculous.Tim created a lot of the top level talent that the Marlins were after. Tim didn’t recruit kids. Parents came to Tim. Tim was a dad and a coach and he actually got it!
Doug can’t recruit anybody. No one went to the Marlins because of Doug. The Marlins will be in the healthiest place since Jeff Pearson with Rob out and Tim in charge!
Three teams came together. But it wasn’t just Rob, and I don’t think he should get the credit, it was more of the parent board and a few parents mending relationships that got destroyed long ago. There never should have been three teams in Folsom on the first place!
The team will not even come close to the Jeff Pearson era…let’s not get crazy here

Carmel. Family moved when he was starting middle school.
He swam at SMST when he was 11.
