Shea Card Commits to DIII Denison University for Fall 2021-22

Shea Card, a high school senior from Basalt, Colorado, has committed to swim for Division III Denison University in Granville, Ohio. Card will graduate from Glenwood Springs High School in spring 2021 join the Big Red’s class of 2025.

Card currently swims year-round for the Aspen Swim Club in the Western Slope League of Colorado. He also swims for his high school at Glenwood Springs. His most recent meet was at the 2019 CHSAA 4A Boys State Championships, where he placed 4th in the 100 backstroke (51.70) and 8th in the 100 butterfly (52.61).

Another notable performance for Card was at the 2018 CO Swimming Senior Long Course State Championships where he placed 3rd in the 400 LCM freestyle with a time of 4:21.37. Additionally, he is a Futures, Sectionals and Zones qualifier.

“I chose Denison because of  its great swimming program and the university’s great academics. Denison is a great balance between everything, academics and athletics. I’m excited to continue my athletic and academic career at Denison!”

At the 2020 NCAC Championships, Card would have had multiple finals performances with Denison. Most notably, he would have placed 6th in the 200 backstroke (1:52.43), 9th in both the 200 freestyle (1:44.24) and the 100 backstroke (50.76) and 10th in the 200 IM (1:54.63) with his current best times.

At the NCAC Championships under head coach Gregg Parini, Denison placed 2nd as a team. Thirty-nine team members were given Scholar All-American honors and 40 received CSCAA All-American status. One member was even named the Academic All-American team member of the year.

Additionally, the team boasts 6 NCAA team titles and 22 NCAC titles.
