The second day of the 2013 Open National Championships in Eindhoven brought some new youth records to the boards
In the prelims of the women’s 50m backstroke, Maaike de Waard finished at a 29.25, just .02 above the Dutch Youth Record .(29.23). She later came back in the finals, posting a life-time best and record-breaking time of 28.80. In the men’s 50m backstroke, Bastiaan Lijesen touched in first at a 25.38 (less than a second up from his best time of 24.73). Laurent Bams touched in second behind Lijesen at a 26.06, breaking another Dutch Youth Record. Bams was .32 under the previous record.
The women’s 100m fly brought Inge Dekker another win, with a time of 59.46. Mike Marissen also adds another win, finishing at 53.94, right above his best of 53.52.
Kristel Doreleijers won the 200m breaststroke in a 2:35.14, while Stefan Hazelegar won the men’s event in 2:17.57, just up from his swim at prelims (2.17.10).
The men’s 400m IM brought Sébas van Lith a win with a time of 4:27.88, which is up from his 4:23.66 time in April.
Femke Heemskerk and Dion Dreesens won the women’s & men’s 200m freestyle in a 1:57.62 and 1:48.31, respectively. Dreesens was up less than a second from his best of 1:47.61.
Finally, Sharon van Rouwendaal finished the 800m freestyle in a win, with a time of 8:36.75, her best posted time since 2009 in Strasbourg (8:37.58).
