Scottish SC Nationals to Be Live-Streamed Beginning Friday, December 12th

The Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh will play host to an impressive line-up for the Scottish Gas National Short Course Championships from 12 to 14 December 2014.

Hannah Miley returns to home soil fresh from her bronze medal at last week’s FINA World Swimming Championships in Doha and has entered no less than 11 individual events, including what should be a great tussle with Aimee Wilmott, the silver medallist in Glasgow, in the 400m IM.

Dan Wallace also returned home from his US University last weekend and competes in a number of events, including the 400m IM and 200m IM where he won gold and silver respectively this summer. Others due to compete include Olympic and Commonwealth Games silver medallist, Michael Jamieson, Robbie Renwick, Corrie Scott, Stephen Milne and Shetland based Erraid Davies.

With such a great line-up Scottish Swimming, in partnership with Glasgow-based QTV Sports, can confirm that they will once again be providing a free-to-air live stream from the Championships, broadcasting the finals session each evening as professional sports coverage. The stream can be found online at www.scottishswimming.com/live

“The calibre of competitor this meet has attracted again highlights the importance of the event and its status as the premier short course competition in the UK and it is great to have so many teams from across the UK competing here in Edinburgh.  I am therefore delighted that for those who are unable to attend, we are working again with QTV Sports and can bring the action and excitement of the finals direct into people’s homes through live streaming.

“For those who can attend, it will be a great opportunity to welcome back the athletes and coaches who made the summer so memorable for Scottish Swimming.”

Jack McGill, Managing Director of QTV Sports, also commented,

“Scottish Swimming is a standard-bearer in Scotland for digital fan engagement and we’re proud of the role we play in that. We’re committed to ensuring that fans of Scottish sport can continue to see their heroes after major championships, like Glasgow 2014, have concluded. What better demonstration of that than to bring Hannah Miley, Michael Jamieson and more directly to swimming fans.”

The competition will run over three days from 12 – 14 December 2014. Morning heats start at 08:45, afternoon heats at 13:15 and finals at 17:30. Advance tickets for as little as £3 for heats and £4 for finals, and can be bought online at http://scottishswimming.eventbrite.co.uk, or at the venue.
