COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San Diego State swept Mountain West Diving and Freshman of the Week awards. Junior Aztec Valentina Lopez Arevalo has been tabbed the MW Diver of the Week, while Alina Skrocki was named the Freshman of the Week.
There was no selection for MW Swimmer of the Week as not enough programs competed.
DIVER OF THE WEEK
VALENTINA LOPEZ AREVALO, SAN DIEGO STATE
Junior, Zapopan, Jalisco/Colegio de Bachilleres del Estado de Jalisco
- Surpassed NCAA Diving qualifying standards in the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform.
- In the 1-meter springboard, registered a final score of 565.50.
- In the 3-meter springboard, logged a final score of 599.40.
- In the platform event, recorded a first-place finish with a final score of 536.50.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
ALINA SKROCKI, SAN DIEGO STATE
Diver, Flagstaff, Arizona/Basis Flagstaff HS
- Posted three top-nine finishes for the Aztecs at the Lumberjack Invitational hosted by Northern Arizona.
- Was the only freshman to crack the top-10 of each of her three events on the weekend, while surpassing NCAA Diving zones in all three.
- In the 1-meter springboard, placed ninth with a final score of 510.95.
- In the 3-meter springboard, placed ninth with a final score of 537.15.
- In the platform event, placed third with a final score of 447.30.
