San Antonio, Texas distance freestyler Samuel Brettmann has made a verbal commitment to swim for Nova Southeastern University in Ft Lauderdale, Florida, beginning in the fall of 2017. Brettmann doesn’t compete in high school swimming, but he swims year-round for Alamo Area Aquatic Association.
“I chose NSU because of many reasons. As soon as I arrived on campus I knew this was the school for me. The team and coaches were so close and made me feel like family from the moment I arrived. I am extremely excited to continue my swimming career and education as part of the Shark family! – GoSharks!”
Brettmann is a versatile talent; he swims everything and does better the longer he’s in the water. He swam the 200y free, 200y breast, and 200/400y IM at 2015 Speedo Winter Junior Nationals West, making B finals in the 200 free and 200 IM. At the Austin Sectionals in August, Brettmann competed in 50/100/200/400/1500m free, 100/200m breast, and 200m IM. He placed third in the 1500m free, 5th in the 200m breast, and 11th in the 400m free. All his top SCY times come from the 2016 LAC Stampede, while his LCM personal-bests are from Austin Futures in August, 2016.
