Samantha Cheruk of Wilton YMCA Wahoos Verbally Commits to Villanova

Stamford, Connecticut’s Samantha Cheruk has made a verbal commitment to join the Villanova University Wildcats in the 2015-16 season. Cheruk is a sprint freestyler with Wilton YMCA Wahoos who has competed at the YMCA Swimming National Championships for the past three consecutive short course and long course seasons.

As a freshman, Cheruk swam for Westhill High School and competed at the 2011 Connecticut State Open Championships at Yale University.

Cheruk’s top times over the past two seasons include:

50y free – 24.31
100y free – 51.98
200y free – 1:53.95
200y IM – 2:09.31

Those times would have represented the fifth-fastest 50 free for Villanova in the 2013-14 season, the seventh-fastest 100 free, the seventh 200 free, and the fifth 200 IM.

Cheruk split a 51.1 on the end of a Wilton Y relay at 2014 YMCA Short Course Championships, not too far off the splits of the women on Villanova’s 4×100 free relay that won the 2014 Big East conference title.
