Sam McHugh, Colleen Callahan Named SEC Swimmers of the Week

Male Swimmer of the Week

Sam McHugh • Tennessee Junior • Chattanooga, Tenn.

McHugh won all four of his individual events to lead Tennessee to a 216-156 victory over North Carolina. He recorded three NCAA B-cut times in his opening weekend in the 200 IM, 400 IM and 200 fly. In the national rankings, McHugh ranks second in the 400 IM, fourth in the 200 IM, and 12th in the 200 fly.

Male Diver of the Week

Liam Stone • Tennessee Junior • Auckland, New Zealand

In Tennessee’s opening season win over North Carolina, Stone took second place in the 1-meter (359.94) and 3-meter (431.78) and fourth in the platform (270.30).

Male Freshman of the Week

Adam Koster • Texas A&M Trophy Club, Texas

In Texas A&M’s 182-105 victory over Incarnate Word, Koster touched the wall first in the 100 free (45.69). He claimed second place in the 50 free (20.81).

Female Swimmer of the Week

Colleen Callahan • Tennessee Senior • Ventnor City, N.J.

Callahan won three individual events and a relay to lead Tennessee to a season-opening victory against North Carolina. She recorded first-place finishes in the 200 IM (2:01.73), 100 breaststroke (1:02.81) and 200 breaststroke (2:18.15) and was a part of the first-place squad in the 200 medley relay (1:40.72).

Female Diver of the Week

Rachel Rubadue • Tennessee Sophomore • Columbus, Ohio

Rubadue won two of three diving events to help Tennessee to a team victory over North Carolina. She recorded her career best on 1-meter with a score of 320.25, which is the fifth-best score in program history. Rubadue also took first in the platform (318.60) and third in the 3-meter (331.20).

Female Freshman of the Week

Tess Cieplucha • Tennessee Georgetown, Ontario

Cieplucha won her first collegiate race in an NCAA B-cut time of 4:17.12 in the 400 IM, the only Tennessee freshman to win an individual event during the meet. She is currently ranked 11th nationally in the 400 IM. Cieplucha also competed in the 200 IM (3rd – 2:03.30), the 200 back (5th – 2:03.88), the 1000 freestyle (8th – 10:28.51) and the 400 medley relay (3:55.15).
