That’s not bad. You can’t expect him to go as fast as the younger guys in season.

Ol' Longhorn

Why not? If he’s adapting his training schedule to account for increased recovery, why wouldn’t he be able to swim as fast in-season? Dressel can barely break 23 in the 50 free right now, and he was routinely swimming 19’s in the NCAA dual meet season. He’s a “younger guy.” Then again, Locthe’s always swum very slow in-season, even at his peak, so there’s no point in arguing.

Exactly. I just think that going 1:58.9 in the 200 im and 4:15 in the 400 bodes well for this summer. It’s faster than he’s been for years in season.

Ha. Age is definitely NOT just a number. Not sure he’ll make another Olympic Trials A finals.

Humour me, why not? The man is world ranked top 0 in both IM’s yet you feel a top 8 in the US is out of reach….

Looked at the 2017-2018 ranking list. Don’t see him in the top 10 on either event.

he already went 158 in the 200 IM. IF he just goes that, he’ll make an A final. I believe that was 3rd in 2016.

I’m really glad that Lochte is still swimming. He’s one of my favorite swimmers.
