Rush-Henrietta (NY) Swim Coach Matt Greene Banned by USA Swimming

Former Rush-Henrietta High School teacher and swim coach Matt Greene has been banned for life by USA Swimming. He was officially banned on March 14th, 2016 after a December arrest for child endangerment.

Greene was arraigned on January 12th, where it was learned that concerns were raised over a room next to the girls’ changing room, used by Greene, where a section of the wall was “purposefully removed.” School district safety coordinator Michael Paladino installed a camera in the room to observe Greene, and said that he believes that in two incidents, he observed Greene watching into the changing room through a shared wall.

Greene was cited by USA Swimming for two violations of its Code of Conduct:

304.3.6 Conviction of, imposition of a deferred sentence for, or any plea of guilty or no contest at any time, past or present, or the existence of any pending charges, for (i) any felony, (ii) any offense involving use, possession, distribution or intent to distribute illegal drugs or substances, (iii) any crime involving sexual misconduct, or (iv) any criminal offense against a minor.

304.3.19 Any other material and intentional act, conduct or omission not provided for above, which is detrimental to the image or reputation of USA Swimming, a LSC or the sport of swimming.

Greene is a former coach with the Golden Comet Swim Club. At the time of his arrest, the Golden Comet Swim Club said that Greene had not been on deck since summer, and they immediately suspended him from all activities and reported the incident to USA Swimming Safe Sport Director Susan Woessner.
