Rollins Adds Eric Nelson to Staff

WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 17, 2015) – The Rollins men’s and women’s swimming programs have added Eric Nelson to the coaching staff for the upcoming 2015-16 seasons. Nelson will serve as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.

“I am pleased to announce the addition of Eric Nelson to our coaching staff for Rollins swimming,” said Rollins Men’s and Women’s Head Coach Dr. Rich Morris.

Nelson brings over 20 years of coaching experience to the Rollins men’s and women’s swimming programs. For six years, Eric was the Assistant Coach at Lake Highland Preparatory School and Highlander Aquatics in Orlando. During his time there, the Lake Highland boys swimming team has placed 2nd at the FHSAA state meet, both boys and girls teams have been named district and regional champions, and there were numerous All-America performances as well as Olympic Trial qualifiers.

From 1997-2008, Nelson Head Coach and General Manager for the Wichita Swim Club, recognized as a Gold Medal Club by USA Swimming. Some of his accomplishments as a coach include: coaching 2004 Olympian Caroline Bruce, coaching 2004 Paralympics swimmer Jarret Perry, coaching Junior and Senior National level swimmers, serving on the Board of Directors of USA Swimming for five years, being named “Coach of the Year” for Region VIII Sectional three times and Missouri Valley Swimming LSC five times, and being named a Level 5 coach — the highest status awarded by the American Swim Coaches Association. Eric holds a Bachelor’s in Political Science from Wichita State University.

He will join Coach Rich Morris and assistant coach Leandra Lima on deck.
