On each day of the official Olympic torch relay, carrying the Olympic flame to the Olympic cauldron in Rio de Janeiro, the Rio2016 Facbeook page is posting brilliant and spectacular images from one of the world’s unique and most beautiful landscapes. Each day until August 5th, we will bring you these stunning images.
On day 58 of the Olympic torch relay in Brazil the torch travelled into the state of Paraná, located in the Southern Region of the country.
The torch first saw Arapongas, located in the northern area of Paraná with a population of about 115,000. The torch then saw both Maringá and Campo Mourão, both located in the north west area of Paraná. Maringá is the third largest city in Paraná with over 385,000 people in the city and over 765,000 in the metropolitan area. Campo Mourão has a populaton of about 90,000. The torch then made its way to Cascavel, located in the mid-western area of the state. It is the fifth most populous city in Paraná with a population of over 305,000.
