ANDRII GOVOROV TOPS FIELD WITH NATIONAL RECORD IN 50 FREESTYLE

Andrii Govorov of Ukraine posted the fastest 50m freestyle this morning to break the Ukranian national record with a time of 21.49. He leads the way into semifinals ahead of Nathan Adrian and Anthony Ervin of the United States.

KATIE LEDECKY BREAKS OLYMPIC RECORD IN 800m FREESTYLE – SET UP TO REPEAT 2012 GOLD

Katie Ledecky swam a very easy and controlled 800m freestyle this morning to take the top overall spot, and break Rebecca Adlington’s Olympic record of 8:14.10. Ledecky was an 8:12.86 this morning, almost seven seconds faster than any other competitor and over a second under the previous Olympic record.

MICHAEL PHELPS ADVANCES TO SEMIFINALS OF 100m BUTTERFLY – KEEPS HOPE ALIVE OF FOURPEAT

Michael Phelps qualified for tonight’s semifinals of the men’s 100m butterfly fourth overall. Although he wasn’t the leader, his 51.60 moves him through to the next round where he’ll attempt to qualify. If he does, it’ll be his fourth Olympic final in the event, and he’ll have the chance to win his fourth consecutive gold. Joseph Schooling of Singapore qualified first in 51.41 followed by Laszlo Cseh and Tom Shields

KATINKA HOSSZU LEADS 200 BACK HEATS WITH PERSONAL BEST

Katinka Hosszu swam a personal best time of 2:06.09 in the 200m backstroke to break the Hungarian national record and give her the top seed heading into the semifinals. Hosszu is now in a position to sweep the backstroke events here in Rio.

I think there are more chance that Phelps miss the final in 100 fly then lost in 200 medley. Everybody knows that Phelps tomorrow can win the race, the big chance is tonight and i expect two crazy semifinals, they will go like a mad men. But Phelps is THE GOAT and i’m confident

Agree! He is the GOAT! He will win everything. Missy is also a goat and should be put out to pasture with dignity. She has had here heyday, more than most Olympians and is a great lady. BUT PLEASE enough get her out of the suit and into a hospice care center!
