After getting sick and not being able to perform much in Knoxville, Regan Smith has been on one in Ft. Lauderdale. Not only did she clock a best time in the 200 free to start Day 3 finals (1:58.14) but then she turned around and threw down a 2:05.34 pro swim series record in the 200 back. After her race, Smith said she just went into the race like a practice because she has done a LOT of 200 back work with Bob since arriving at ASU.
You look great, Regan. Very happy for you!!
Smith was BOOKING on the last lap of that 200 Back.
That 200 back final at Olympic Trials next year is going to be insane. My pick goes to Smith and Curzan going 1-2.
It’ll be interesting to see what Curzan does in the 2back in the long pool.
What about the world recorder holder, world champion, commonwealth champion and Olympic champion Kayla Mckeown?
Greg Meehan destroys his swimmers
she was literally faster in the 200 back the summer after swimming for Stanford than the summer before
It only took one year at Stanford for Regan Smith to go from a silver medalist in the W 200 FL at the Summer Olympics to failing to medal in the W 200 FL at the World Aquatics Championships.
But didn’t Simone Manuel win Olympic gold and back to back world champ titles in the 100free? Which would me your statement is false
There is no way that Simone Manuel should have become completely irrelevant in the W 100 FR by the age of 25. There is no way that Katie Drabot should have become completely irrelevant in the W 200 FL by the age of 24.
Bob Bowman >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Greg Meehan
I am so, so happy for her.
QUIT PLAYIN WITH THA KID!!!!
Bob Bowman has a history of tuning natural talents; Greg Meehan has a history of winning college championships with the team packed with super stars.
If college education isn’t a concern for Regan then she made a smart move.
The Stanford Cardinal recruits itself.
Agnel would disagree…
Who cares if that pedo didn’t perform under Bowman
She is smiling again:). Love to see it.
Probably smiling and “happy” as many say because she now doesn’t have the academic rigor in addition to swimming. I doubt Stanford would let you slide through the academic part even if you are a great swimmer. Flunking out could have been a real possibility. Otherwise NIL would have been an answer to the money aspect. With that said you really have to admire those who are able to balance academics and swim.
