Record Setting Day at the Russian Junior Nationals

As the Russian Junior National Championships in Volgograd came to an end so did the lifespan of four the competition records.

Pavel Tatarenko won the men’s 200 backstroke in a new competition record time of 2:03.02. He was followed by Clement Kolesnikov who posted a 2:05.63 and Maxim Stupin who finished in a time of 2:06.19.

The second record to be set was by Dmitry Popov who took the mens’ 200 butterfly in a time of 2:01.91. Peter Zhiharev finished second in a time of 2:02.79 followed by Ivan Zaytsev who took the bronze in a time of 2:06.13.

Yaroslav Potapov dominated the field in the men’s 1500 freestyle taking the event by over 32 seconds. Potapov set a new meet record winning the event in a time of 15:35.59.

The final record of the evening was set by the Peterburzhskoy’s women’s 4 x 100 medley relay team who took the event in a time of 4:20.98.

Valery Sukhanov was a big winner on the final evening of competition taking gold in both the women’s 50 freestyle and 200 freestyle. Sukhanov won the 50 in a time of 26.39 and the 200 in a time of 2:05.12.

Gleb Karasev took the men’s 100 freestyle in a time of 51.20 while Alexander Denisenko won the men’s 100 butterfly in a time of 1:01.77.

Marianne Bobrova won the women’s 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:33.38.
