Rapidly Improving Greg Raper Signs an NLI to Seattle U

Greg Raper, who swims for Cedar Park Swimming in Texas, has signed a national letter of intent to swim for Seattle University. Raper is sprint freestyle and butterfly swimmer who has shown big time improvement over the last few years:

  • 50 freestyle – 21.05
  • 100 freestyle- 46.57
  • 100 butterfly- 51.77

Raper had never been under 22 in the 50 or 48 in the 100 freestyle going into his junior year. He was a member of Westwood High School’s 4th place 400 freestyle relay team at last year’s Texas State 6A Championship.

Raper will be a huge upgrade for the Redhawks sprinting corps. His best (also from this fall) times would have put him well ahead of the rest of the squad in both the 50 and 100 freestyle this current season. Both his 50 and 100 free would have ranked second on last year’s conference team, so Raper should step right into relay contention.

He will, however, need to show some improvement in order to score at the WAC Championship. It took 20.95 in the 50 and 46.30 in the 100 freestyle to score at the 2015 meet.
