Princeton Adds Speedo Sectionals Finalist Natalie Farquhar to Class of 2028

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Natalie Farquhar, a freestyle and backstroke swimmer out of Santa Rosa, CA will make the cross-country move to swim for Princeton beginning in the Fall of 2024. Farquhar swims year round for Neptune Swimming, and has shown significant improvement in the backstroke events this season.

Coming into the 2022-2023 season, her best 100 backstroke stood at 56.28 seconds. Farquhar competed at the West Speedo Winter Junior Championships this past December in Austin, Texas, where she lowered her 100 backstroke time to 56.13. Then in early March, Farquhar competed at Speedo Sectionals in Novato, where she dropped almost another full second in the 100 yard backstroke, swimming a time of 55.26 to take 3rd place in the event. That same weekend, Farquhar also finished top 8 in the 200 freestyle (7th) and the 200 backstroke (8th).

Prior to this season, Farquhar’s best time in the 200 backstroke was a 2:04.33 from February 2022. One year later at the Superleague champs in February 2023, Farquhar posted her current personal best time of 2:02.09, more than two seconds faster than she was last year.

Top SCY Times:

  • 50 free- 23.95
  • 100 free- 51.59
  • 200 free- 1:51.02
  • 50 back- 26.33
  • 100 back- 55.26
  • 200 back- 2:02.09

The Princeton women certainly are on the rise. After a 4th place finish at the 2022 Ivy League Championships, Princeton women finished 1st at the Ivy League championships this year by over 200 points over a second place Harvard team. Farquhar’s 100 backstroke time of 55.26 would have put her in scoring position at this year’s Ivy League Championships, with her 200 freestyle and 200 backstroke best times placing her just outside of scoring range.

Natalie’s older sister Ali Farquhar is committed to play volleyball for Harvard beginning Fall 2023. Ali was also a swimmer up until 2018.
