Thanks to presenting partner SPIRE Academy, a scholastic boarding school where individuals: excel academically, master life’s necessary personal skills, experience tomorrow’s emerging career opportunities and exceed expectations in their sport or other passion specialization.
We went to a very special practice in Geneva, Ohio: a SPIRE Academy Swim Camp featuring SPIRE Ambassador Ryan Lochte. Lochte left no stone unturned, teaching all 4 strokes, starts, turns, and sharing his 20+ years of experience in the sport. Take a dive into the mind of Ryan Lochte in this Practice + Pancakes special.

Dressel joins the camp only on July 10-12 (Sun-Tues). SPIRE Swim coaches will train on the remaining days.
I wonder what his fee schedule is for an event like this?
A few thoughts on the video:
1) I’ve tried off and on over the ~15 years I’ve been coaching to learn the coach whistle and have failed miserably every time, with or without fingers.
2) Lochte seems like a natural clinician. I’ve seen plenty of coaches and former swimmers who’ve led clinics and some just aren’t very good at it, no matter how much experience/knowledge they have, so it’s a good thing that he seems to be a natural at it! If he ever does a Masters clinic around me, I’d sign up in a heartbeat.
3) I’d love to just sit down and talk with Lochte! I’m about the same age as him and while my swimming career obviously… Read more »
As someone who is about to coach for my club team once i’m done with classes, I hate that I have been trying for 3 months and still can’t whistle with my fingers…help me.
Petition for lochte to comeback in 2024 training USRPT
Basically tried that with Marsh didn’t he? Wasn’t so great…
My man needs his yardage, tire flipping and beer keg throwing
Eh, only because everything that could go wrong did. Right off the bat with marsh he tore his acl, couldn’t do that much for months, so that’s mostly why 2014 was a letdown. 2015 was a decent year from him, gold in the 2IM, was within striking distance of gold in the 200 free as well but went out too fast in the semi. In 2016 he had a groin injury that nerfed his breast.
Obviously, I am happy to see anyone, esp. one with a family, gainfully employed – that’s so positive.
But, the record and history of Rio 2016 will forever contain mark memories.
Who cares?
How well do you know the actual record? The record and history show that lochte’s version events were closer to reality than the Rio police (shocker), and that the quick media narrative shifting focus away before facts could come to life left lochte unfairly maligned.
Long Live Lochte
Did he tell the truth on national TV?
Once you answer that question, everything falls into place.
BTW:
The 10-month suspension from USA Swimming did not come out of thin air.
The 14-month suspension from USADA did not come out of thin air.
Oh god were vilifying people for bending the truth on tv? I have some bad news for you…
Not his best moment but we are way the point where you need to let it go.
*way past
some are just historians of the sport. . . .
Stuck in the past is not the same as being a historian. He has paid his dues and is trying to move forward.
Yeah, right up there with “grab ’em by the…,” “good people on both sides,” and storming the Capitol. In the post-2016 news cycle, it would be a one-day sports page article. Timing is everything.
Conflating Trump and Lochte — interesting. . . . . .
Who hurt you?
argumentum ad absurdum
Rio was lame but Lochte is an ok guy. Still the 2 IM GOAT. Not many will ever display the versatility that Lochte did.
Anyone who’s been in or around the sport knows what a kind and approachable person Lochte has been. Significantly more than other big time stars.
Will always be rooting for him.
-1
ratio’ed on the minuses lol
Did Lochte steal your girl?
I won’t even go near a response on this one!
Just to rich for jest and bad images.
I’ve swum there at two USMS Nationals in 2015 and 2021, what am I missing?
This place is in such a strange location, not sure how it hasn’t shut down.
It has changed ownership multiple times as a result of its location, and I think shut down at least momentarily at one point. The current owners seem to have it on better financial footing from what I saw at USMS Nationals there last year vs 2015.
…yes, SPIRE has new ownership and management, and they have decades of experience behind them.
