Potomac Marlins to Host Breast Cancer Fundraiser Event at PVS October Open at Lee District Rec. Center

The Potomac Marlins, a member of Potomac Valley Swimming, will host a Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser this weekend as part of the October Open at Lee District Recreation Center  (October 18-20).  Meet Volunteers and swimmers have purchased special Swim Pink t-shirts with all the proceeds being donated to the Susan B. Komen for the Cure Foundation.  All volunteers will be wearing their Pink Shirts on Saturday October 18th in support of the cause.

Potomac Marlins Head Coach Bill Marlin serves as the Meet Manager for this special event, now in its second year.

SWIM-PINK, Potomac Marlins logo for cancer awareness“Showing our support for Breast Cancer funding and research and donating to the cause is one of the highlights of our season,” said Head Coach Bill Marlin. “It offers our athletes and families the chance to give something back.  Serving the community in powerful and important ways is something we like to stress with our swimmers.”

Marlins Team Sponsor, SPEEDO, is joining the effort by supplying the Marlins staff with Special Breast Cancer Awareness shirts and also providing 120 EVENT WINNER pink caps to the October Open swimmers throughout the meet.

Those who would like to donate to the cause can mail checks to: The Potomac Marlins, P.O. Box 4190 Arlington VA 22204 by the end of October.  Checks should be made out directly to Susan G. Komen for the CURE.

It is awesome to see coaches teaching not only great swimming skills, but also the value of giving back to others. Kudos to the Marlins.
