There’s nothing wrong with a little sibling rivalry from time-to-time.
Philip Perdue, the younger brother of 2012 Olympic gold medalist and former Virginia All-American Lauren Perdue, has verbally committed to the Cavaliers’ huge rival: the University of North Carolina.
“I think I will fit in well with the guys, I think coach Aaron has some innovative ideas for the sprint group, and think that the addition of an extra weight session during the week will help improve our power in the water,” Perdue said.
Philip Perdue is a great freestyler, following in the family lineage; his best times in yards are 20.64, 45.75, and 1:39.69, respectively.
He is also a solid breaststroker, with bests of 57.2 and 2:05.7.
North Carolina hasn’t had the flash in this recruiting season that we’ve seen from some programs around the country, but more subtly both their men’s and women’s teams have put together very good classes. Among the other recruits on the men’s side include Ben Creekmore and Michael McBryan.
Perdue is just the type of freestyler that North Carolina really needed for this class. He can swim a full compliment of relays, and sort of solidify that group for the Tar Heels.
Welcome to the Carolina family!
Congrats to the young man on a great decision! There are not many better places than Chapel Hill. Being a North Carolina native, he is clearly aware of that!
is that supposed to be 1:39.69?
