Nicole Phelps, the wife of the most-decorated Olympic swimmer in history Michael Phelps, gave birth to the couple’s third child on Monday, September 9th, the couple announced on Instagram Wednesday.
The baby’s name is Maverick Nicolas Phelps, and he joins brothers Boomer and Beckett.
Though he doesn’t have any posts yet, you can already follow the baby on Instagram @mavericknphelps. Boomer, 3, has nearly 700,000 followers on his account, @boomerrphelps; Beckett, 20 months, has almost 70,000 followers on his (@beckettrphelps).
While Boomer’s middle name came from Phelps’ longtime coach, Robert “Bob” Bowman, and Beckett’s middle name, Richard, is Nicole’s dad’s name. Nicolas is presumably a nod to Nicole.
Phelps has won more Olympic medals and gold medals than any athlete in any sport in history, with 23 gold and 28 total medals. His wife Nicole, formerly Johnson, was Miss California USA 2010.
Their youngest son is close in age to both Ryan Lochte’s second child, daughter Liv (born in June), and Cullen Jones’ first child, son Ayven (born in July).
