Paris 2024 Olympic Volunteer Process Opens

The volunteer process for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris has opened to the general public.

Paris 2024, partnering with Decathlon, is looking to recruit 45,000 unpaid volunteers – including 3,000 with disabilities – to help run the 2024 edition of the games, and its nearly 40 venues. Volunteering at the Olympic Games is a one-of-a-kind experience, giving volunteers the chance to experience the inner workings of the Games and to meet people from around the globe.

The recruitment is aimed internationally, only asking that volunteers be over the age of 18 (as of January 1st, 2024) and speak either French or English. There are a wide variety of volunteer opportunities available in three specific categories: assisting in the Games proceedings (60%), assisting sporting performance (35%), and, assisting organizational procedures (5%). There are also available roles for those with medical qualifications to assist with the games. Paris 2024 has noted that they are committed to matching volunteers to the role to which they are best suited. Additionally, volunteers will be compensated for their use of public transportation and food, however, housing will not be covered.

In addition to the volunteer recruited by the Games Committee, The City of Paris Volunteer Program is looking to recruit an additional 5,000 volunteers to ensure safe and festive proceedings for the Games.

The application window is open from March 22nd to May 3rd, and subsequent interviews may be issued to some applicants throughout the summer. Decisions on applicants will be issued during the winter of 2024. Training for accepted volunteers would begin in the early spring of 2024. The application can be filled out online here and takes roughly 30-45 minutes. Additional FAQs regarding the process and recommendations can also be found on the same site.

The Olympic and Paralympic Games will run from July 26th to August 11th and August 24th to September 8th respectively, where we will see the greatest athletes on the planet compete for Olympic glory.
