A Trio of Italian athletes, Gregorio Paltrinieri, Ilaria Bianchi and Luca Dotto have all confirmed their participation in the upcoming World Cup competitions. The three Italian swimmers will be competing in Dubai, October 17th-18th and in Doha, October 20th-21st.
Paltrinieri had a fantastic summer winning bronze in the 1500 freestyle at the World Championships in Barcelona, following that up with World Cup victories in the same event in Eindhoven and Berlin. In his win in Eindhoven he set a new World Cup record of 14:27.65 breaking his fellow countryman Federico Colbertaldo‘s 2009 record of 14:28.35.
Bianchi the defending World Short Course champion in the 100 butterfly took the World Cup title in the 50 butterfly in Berlin (World champion Jeanette Ottesen Gray was disqualified in the same race), but missed the 100 final finishing 10th. She also had a fourth place finish in the 100 and eighth place finish in the 50 in Endhoven.
Dotto opted out of the initial two World Cup events after finishing eighth in the 100 freestyle in Barcelona.
