The University of the Pacific swimming head coach Katelyn Herrington has announced the addition of Semaj Walker as an Assistant Coach.

Walker, who competed for the Tigers from 2017-20, will bring her experiences as a student-athlete and share them now as a member of the coaching staff. “She was a four-time finalist in the 100-yard breaststroke at the MPSF Championships, where she finished first in 2017 and second in 2018.” Following the 2017-18 season, she was named the team’s Iron Woman for her dedication. Walker was also a four-year member of the student-athlete advisory committee. The Apple Valley, California native earned her bachelor’s degree in biological sciences last spring.

“I am excited to add Semaj Walker to our coaching staff, said Pacific head swimming coach Katelyne Herrington. As an alum and swimmer, Semaj has always exhibited a hunger for success in and out of the pool. She will be a great role model and leader for our student-athletes while bringing a wealth of knowledge with her background in strength training. I look forward to seeing the immediate impact Semaj will have on our season.”

Prior to entering the coaching ranks, she has worked at OrangeTheory Fitness as a sales associate and most recently, as a fitness coach.

“As a swimmer at Pacific not too long ago, I am very much familiar with the culture that has been created on this team, and to keep it short, I love it,” said Walker. I am so excited to be joining two amazing coaches in guiding the athletes to learn from the relationships and experiences that they gain from the team environment and connecting them to life outside of the pool deck. This season is going to be one to remember, and I can’t wait to hop right in and be a part of it all!”
