The Oyster River teams dominated New Hampshire’s 2016 NHIAA Division 2 Championships, winning the girls’ meet with 285 points to St. Thomas Aquinas’s second-place 151 and the boys’ meet with 295 points to St. Thomas Aquinas’s 181. They took the gold in four out of eight relays and four individual events. Their individual wins were all on the girls’ side, so their over 100-point victory in the boys’ meet came from depth.
Oyster River’s relay wins came in the girls’ 200 medley relay, where Tess Oakes, Audrey Duvall, Sydnee Aubin, and Eleanor Zwart swam 1:49.11; the boys’ 200 medley where Andrew Hodge, Forrest Spinney, Samuel Lippmann, and Brian Stevens swam 1:43.20; the girl’s 400 free relay, where Lily Wong, Analiese Parsons, Aubin, and Duvall swam 3:40.63; and the boys’ 400 free relay, where Stevens, Alex Szymanski, Hodge, and Matt Jones swam 3:20.30.
Duval doubled up on individual victories, taking the win for Oyster River in the girls’ 200 IM with 2:10.46 and the girls’ 100 breast with 1:07.69. The other Oyster River wins came from Emma Larson with 287.10 points in the 1 meter diving event and Aubin in the girls’ 500 free with 5:11.41.
Derryfield’s Emma Wagner won the girls’ 200 free in 1:55.46, narrowly outswimming St. Thomas Aquinas’s Eleanor Sullivan‘s 1:55.66. Her sister Lindsay Wagner took a pair of wins in the girls’ 100 backstroke with 56.88 and the girls’ 50 free with 23.91. Other Derryfield victory came from Jonathan Furlong in the 1 meter diving event, where he scored 297.65 points.
Campbell’s Trent Levasseur won the boys’ 200 IM in 1:59.05 and the boys’ 100 breast in 1:02.12. His brother Grant Levasseur also took a pair of wins, winning the boys’ 100 back with 52.47 and the 100 fly in 51.32. The pair teamed up with Michael Douglas and William Bauer to propel Campbell to a relay victory in the boys’ 200 free with 1:30.88.
The girls of Lebanon, Kayla Davis, Hannah Budner, Clarisse Brown, and Catherine Gavell won the girls’ 200 free relay in 1:41.17, outtouching Oyster Valley’s 1:41.74. Gavell had a very successful day, also winning the girls’ 100 fly in 57.78 and the girls’ 100 free in 53.74.
Hanover’s Kristian Hansen won the boys’ 200 free by a huge margin in 1:45.46. He came back later for another huge win in the boys’ 500 free, clocking 4:39.47.
Windham’s Connor Hopkins swept the sprint free titles, winning the boys’ 50 free in 21.33 and the boys’ 100 free in 47.39.
Both the winning Leb girls and the Oyster River girls were under the old state record!
