OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha swim teams returned to H&K pool for the first time since last season hosting their first event of the year. Both the Maverick women and men dominated wins vs. Midland and Nebraska Wesleyan.

The Omaha women beat Nebraska Wesleyan, 147-38, and Midland, 141-88. The men downed Nebraska Wesleyan, 148-68, and Midland, 151-79.

The day started with a 1-3 sweep by the women in the 200-medley relay. Gracie StreblowAnnie LeinartMorgan Baker, and Parker Hagemann earned first with a time of 1:48.86. The men also had success in the event with first and second. Mason SchroederChas NolteAJ Swibold, and Grant Waszak put up a time of 1:33.76 for first.

Carina Monroe and Caleb Miller then each won the 1000-free for Omaha. Monroe swam a time of 11:56.29, while Miller finished in 10:22.37.

In the 200-free, Kadence Jeffries and Michael Johnson earned first. Jeffries swam a time of 1:54.63, while Johnson finished in 1:45.15. Olivia Dendinger and Hoak took home second for the Maverick women and men, respectively.

Megan Latta and Rachel Shelstad earned first and second in the women’s 50-back. Latta led the pack with a time of 27.83, while Shelstad followed behind with a time of 28.57. Jackson Burrus added his name to the board with a time of 25.01 for second-place to lead the Maverick men.

In the 50-breast, Caroline Gardner came out on top with a time of 30.02, while the men swept the top-three. Shroeder claimed first with a time of 26.50. Brandon Cheong and Ryan Korthals rounded out the top-three.

Hagemann added an individual second-place finish to her day with a time of 59.77 in the 100-fly. Niel Thomas, Swibold, and Caden Murphy swept for the men. Thomas posted a time of 52.82 for first.

The women took 1-4 in the 50-free. Abigail Mitchell swam a time of 24.66 for the top spot. The men took 1-3 and were led by Grant Schaffer with a time of 21.93.

The next individual event saw a first-place finish by Baker in the 100-free with a time of 53.77. Hoak then came out on top for the men with a time of 47.07.

Liv Theil then took first in the 100-back. She swam a time of 1:00.16. Dendinger and Latta then finished in second and third. A trio of Schroeder, Waszak, and Burrus claimed the top-three finishes for the men. Schroeder led the way with a time of 52.44.

The meet wrapped up with the 200-free relay. The Omaha women took first and second. Payton EasleyAnnika Harthoorn, Baker, and Shelstad swam a time of 1:37.38 for first. The Maverick men also took the top two spots. Hoak, Amir Haviv, Cheong, and Johnson swam a combined time of 1:25.47 for first.

Omaha returns to action on Jan. 19. The Mavericks head to Augustana for the first meet of 2023.

OMAHA, Neb. – Midland University took to the pool alongside Nebraska Wesleyan University and the University of Nebraska-Omaha on Saturday for a double dual. The Warriors were bested on the men’s and women’s sides by the Mavericks (151-79 men, 141-88 women) but took both contests against the Prairie Wolves (120-112 men, 152-67 women).

Competing in all of the races simultaneously, the Warriors picked up five wins in individual events and had another five runner-up finishes on the day.

Mohamed Saleh won the men’s 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:17.20 and placed second in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:25.22.

Quinty Rouschop also had a win and runner-up finish. She won the women’s 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:16.25 and came in second in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:28.96.

Other winners included Annamaria Lowary in the women’s 500-yard freestyle (5:12.43), Jordan Gagner in the women’s 200-yard IM (2:18.14), and Jeremy Aubin in the men’s 200-yard (M (2:00.22).

Runners-up also included Alex Goldsmith in the men’s 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.8), Nicolas Ruth in the men’s 50-yard butterfly (24.74), and Matthew Welton in the men’s 200-yard IM (2:08.02).

Midland will not be off from competition for a little over a month with their next meet scheduled for January 14. They’ll host Sterling for a men’s and women’s dual, as well as the College of Saint Mary on the women’s side in Fremont at the Dillon Family Aquatics Center.
