The International Olympic Committee (IOC) have announced details of an October 8th summit on controlling doping in sports.
Among the participants will be FINA president Julio Maglione, who has talked tough on doping but showed little fortitude when it came to enforcing an IOC directive on Russian athletes competing in Rio.
Many of the major players from some of the biggest organizations under the Olympic banner will be in attendance, including presidents of the Chinese, Russian, and United States Olympic Committees; and the presidents of the gymnastics, soccer, swimming, track & field, skiing, and bobsledding federations.
Among the major topics of conversation will be a review of the WADA anti-doping system; and a reinforcement of the request issued at the last Olympic Summit, almost a year ago, “to make the entire anti-doping system independent from sports organisations” like FINA.
