Olympic Champion Kyle Chalmers & Ingeborg Løyning Expecting Baby

Olympic superstar Kyle Chalmers of Australia is about to become a first-time father.

Chalmers and fiancé Ingeborg Løyning of Norway revealed via social media that the pair is expecting their first child together.

“We can’t wait to welcome our little Norwegian princess into the world later this year,” is what the pair posted on Instagram, posed with sonogram pictures and complementing ‘Dad’ and ‘Mom’ hats.

The swimming power couple announced their engagement last June in the lead up to the 2024 Olympic Games. There in Paris, Chalmers raced his way to silver in the men’s 100m freestyle to follow-up his 2016 gold and 2020 silver in the same event. Chalmers also helped the Aussie men earn 4x100m free relay silver at last year’s Games.

As for Løyning, the 24-year-old has been a backstroke specialist for the majority of her career, owning Norway’s LCM national records in the 50, 100 and 200 distances. She was a member of the 2020 Olympic team where her highest finish came in the 200m back where she placed 17th overall.

Chalmers told Nine’s Today that he is gunning for glory at this summer’s World Championships but is already looking beyond this year’s main event.

“We’ve got world champs trials coming up here in a couple months’ time, which I’m really looking forward to competing in front of a home crowd again in Adelaide,” he said.

“Then I guess starting to get ready for LA (Olympics) in 2028, and who knows, if I’m still swimming by Brisbane 2032 it would be a miracle… but the fingers are crossed.

“It would be amazing to swim in front of a home crowd up there in Brisbane.” (Nine Today)

I guess the pregnancy was planned because most elite female athletes use birth control don’t they?

Unless they have a bad reaction to the drugs anyway.
