Olympian Kim Vandenberg appears in Emilyn Brodsky’s debut music video for “Born Again”

Olympic medalist Kim Vandenberg appears in Emilyn Brodsky’s debut music video for “Born Again.” The synchronized swimming themed video premiered on Vice’s Noisey outlet on Friday.

You can watch Kim lead a troupe of Bathing Beauties in Brodsky’s food-themed clip to keep in the vein of Emilyn Brodsky Eats Her Feelings’ album title.

Look for the beautiful butterfly pro about 2:01-2:07. She’s on the right.

The video is directed by Fletcher Wolfe and was shot in New York over two days on an August weekend. Despite basic synchronized swimming being relatively complicated, choreographer Hallie Bulleit orchestrated the group with zero rehearsal before the video shoot commenced. Says Bulleit of the experience:

“I’m an ex-Broadway dancer/aerialist, now turned choreographer. My dance credits include Stomp, De La Guarda, Fuerza Bruta and RENT. Choreographing this music video was way more fun than working on one of those shows, and I won’t tell you which one (hint: I had to play drums on garbage cans).”

The underwater shots are unedited with Brodsky stating “I can hold my breath for two minutes and did all of my own stunts like a boss.” Other fun facts include bathing beauty appearances by Urge Overkill’s manager Beth Winer as well as Whitesmith Entertainment partner (and athlete manager), Emily White.

Look for Vandenberg competing throughout the Spring and Summer for NYAC as well as at U.S. Nationals in August. Brodsky is currently on a U.S. tour that includes an appearance at SXSW.
