Adam Peaty of Great Britain showed great consistency once again posting a time under the one minute mark in the 100 breaststroke for the third time this year and the 14th time over the last year. Peaty won the event in a time of 59.67, which is slower than his season’s best of 59.04 that he posted in Berlin a month ago.

Peaty’s season’s best of 59.04 is the top ranked time in the world with only American Cody Miller (59.92) being the only other man having gone under the one minute mark this year.

James Guy and Robbie Renwick had a fantastic battle in the men’s 200 freestyle with Guy coming out on top winning the event in a time of 1:47.75. Renwick finished second in a time of 1:47.92.

Guy’s time is off his season’s best of 1:46.94 which he posted in January.

Renwick’s time places him ninth in the world rankings.

Craig McNally won the men’s 200 backstroke in a time of 2:00.75 while Jemma Lowe took the women’s 200 butterfly in a time of 2:09.25.

Things are looking great for the British backstroke women once again – After Spofforth retired and Simmonds lost form we really looked thin. Now we have 6 women under 1.01 in the past 12 months and two below the minute. Those women now include Fran Halsall (60.7) – I have said for many years, she could go 59s if she swum backstroke tapered. Great return from ‘injury’ nonetheless. Watch for 13 year old Lily Boseley, too – She looks like the real deal at Nova… Her PB was 1.05.9 this morning, now it is 1.03! She swam 1.08 in August 2014.

Ben Proud looked great – He missed the start as he was standing up when the race started… he still won by over a body length.
