NYC Breaststroker Kimberly Dutta Commits to MIT for Fall 2021

Kimberly Dutta of the 92Y Dolphins in New York City has committed to MIT this fall.

Coincidentally, Dutta clocked lifetime bests in all of the events above (except for the 200 IM) at the 2019 MIT Invitational in December. At that meet, she finished third in both breaststrokes and fifth in the 100 fly.

MIT’s deep breaststroke group is led by sophomore Edenna Chen, who has lifetime bests of 1:01.2/2:14.7 in the breaststroke events. During the 2019-20 season, MIT’s last full/official season due to the pandemic, Dutta would’ve ranked third on MIT’s roster in both breaststrokes. She would’ve also been their #2 100 butterflier.

Dutta would’ve finished well in the A-finals at the 2020 NEWMAC Championships in both breaststrokes and the 100 fly, her 200 breast time good enough to have granted her a runner-up finish behind Chen.

Dutta joins Jolie Kim in MIT’s incoming class this fall.
