Lynchburg, Va. — University of Lynchburg athletics is thrilled to announce the hire of Bailee Nunn as the men’s and women’s swimming program’s first-ever full-time assistant coach.
Nunn will assist director of men’s and women’s swimming Brad Dunn with every facet of the program, including designing and coaching training, recruiting, team communications, and administrative duties.
A 10-time NCAA Division II individual champion, Nunn comes to Lynchburg from Springfield, Mo., where she was a four-year standout at Drury University. She also competed at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials.
“Bailee is going to be a tremendous asset to our staff as a coach and mentor,” Dunn said. “She is going to bring great experience as well as positive energy to our pool deck. She has a great technical eye for stroke enhancement and shares our importance for a priority on mental health.”
At Trials in 2016, Nunn finished 31st in the 200-meter individual medley and also competed in the 100- and 200-meter breaststroke.
At Drury, she was the Great Lakes Valley Conference women’s swimmer of the year as a freshman in 2016-17. As a sophomore in 2017-18, she won four individual national titles (100- and 200-yard breaststroke, 100 butterfly, and 200 IM) on her way to the Division II women’s swimmer of the year award. She successfully defended all four of those titles at the 2019 championships. In 2020, Nunn won the 50 freestyle and was poised for more before the meet was canceled midway through due to the emerging COVID-19 pandemic. The Panthers were the Division II runners-up three times in her career.
Nunn’s coaching experience includes three years at Springfield Preparatory School, where she mentored swimmers ages 7-16, and six years as a private instructor and clinician.
She graduated from Drury in 2020 with a degree in psychology and a community health minor.
Nunn will assume her duties July 1.
