Penn State hosted Army for a men’s and women’s dual meet on Friday, emerging victorious by large margins in both meets.

As she has been all season, Penn State freshman Catherine Meisner was excellent for the Nittany Lions. Meisner won the women’s 200 free in 1:46.92, leading a 1-2-3-4 charge by Penn State. Abbie Amdor came in second with a 1:49.35, Abby Henderson was third in 1:50.31, and Cat Stanford, who swam exhibition (not for points), touched fourth with a 1:50.55. Meisner then went on to win the 500 free in 4:50.82, coming home in a speedy 57.97 on the final 100.

The Nittany Lions also put up very solid times in the relays at this meet. In the women’s 200 medley relay, Molly Carson (25.28), Liv Jack (27.50), Emma Harvey (23.06), and Mary Brinker (22.17) combined for a 1:38.01. Brinker (22.79), Ellie Tiskus (22.66), Cat Stanford (22.64), and Jack (22.65) teamed up for a 1:30.74 in the women’s 200 free relay.

The men’s 200 medley relay saw Lachlan Byrne (22.14), Dan Raisanen (24.65), Victor Baganha (20.22), and Mariano Lazzerini (19.87) post a 1:26.88. Baganha (19.80), Lazzerini (20.39), Ben Doyle (20.51), and Tommy Hurley (19.75) then combined for a 1:20.45 in the men’s 200 free relay.

Penn State’s Mary Brinker was excellent in the women’s sprint free events. In the women’s 50 free, Brinker won decisively, swimming a 22.69 to touch as the only swimmer in the field under 23 seconds. She then went on to win the 100 free in 49.89, touching out teammate Emma Harvey, who came in second in 49.96. PSU was incredible in the event, seeing Abbie Amdor take third with a 50.18 and Cat Stanford touch fourth with a 50.33. Stanford swam the race exhibition.

Harvey had won the women’s 100 back earlier in the meet, swimming a 53.78. She would go on to win the women’s 100 fly as well, clocking a 53.40.

Army’s Evan Yoo was fantastic in the men’s 200 breast, winning the race in 1:57.77. He was the only swimmer under 2:00 in the field, building a small early lead and expanding it through the back half.

Penn State’s Eduardo Cisternas put up speedy times in the men’s distance events. Cisternas kicked things off with a 15:07.14 in the men’s 1650. A freshman, the swim marks a personal best for Cisternas in the event. He’s from Chile, so this season marks his first time competing in yards. Cisternas then went on to win the men’s 500 free in 4:22.53, touching just off his time from mid-season.

Penn State’s Morgan Rinn took the women’s 200 fly in 1:59.51, pulling away from the field on the final 50. Sam Folger (Penn State) won the men’s 200 fly in 1:46.50.
