Nitro’s Josh Winn Commits to D2 Carson-Newman University

The Carson-Newman Eagles welcomed Josh Winn from Round Rock, Texas to their class of 2019. Winn attends Cedar Ridge High School and was named to Texas’ 2014 Academic All-State team.

A member of Nitro Swimming in Austin, Winn swims primarily distance free, but he has quite a wide range of events. Some of his best times include:

1650y free – 16:44.11 1500m free – 17:26.93
1000y free – 10:10.05 800m free – 8:52.76
500y free – 4:54.62 400m free – 4:21.19
200y free – 1:49.24 200m free – 2:03.25
100y free – 50.59 100m free – 56.58
200y fly – 2:02.29 200m fly – 2:17.31
100y fly – 55.19 100m fly – 1:01.65

Winn dropped quite a bit of time in long course season this past summer, improving in nearly every event. One of the highlights was a nearly six-second drop in the 200m fly.

The CNU Eagles will therefore have several choices where to use Winn. He could score at Bluegrass Mountain Conference in the 1000 and 1650 free or in the 200 fly, which could free up other Eagles to compete in different events.
