The Nevada Gaming Control Board has recommended approval of wagering on the 2016 Summer Olympic Games, which would be the first time in Las Vegas history that wagering would be legal on the formerly-amateur event.

It has been widely expected that wagering would be limited or eliminated in events where judges control the outcome, such as figure skating or gymnastics.
International sportsbooks have already been accepting wagering on Olympic Games events, as we outlined prior to the 2012 Olympic Games.
